We all have a story. Some have been lucky enough to have experienced relatively few hills and valleys and other’s life journeys have been so wrought with destruction you have to wonder how the person is still standing. Today, I’m pulling one out of the personal folder. No, not a heart breaking story – although I do have those – but a special song. When I was coming out of a really awful season of my life I used to cling to this song with hope and I would crank it uppp.
Who said all worship music has to be “Christian”?
If you listen, the words of this song are full of praise and thanksgiving. The title alone corresponds to the Christian walk: I can see clearly now, the rain is gone.  🙂  Hallelujah!
Do you treasure any special worship songs that would be deemed “secular”?
I Can See Clearly Now by Johnny Nash
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been prayin’ for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
Look all around, there’s nothin’ but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin’ but blue skies
I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Psalm 34:8
“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”
Psalm 86:5
“O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.”
Nahum 1:7
“The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes.
He is close to those who trust in him.”
Jeremiah 33:11
“The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD.”
Jeremiah 31:12
“They will come home and sing songs of joy on the heights of Jerusalem.
They will be radiant because of the Lord’s good gifts—
the abundant crops of grain, new wine, and olive oil, and the healthy flocks and herds.
Their life will be like a watered garden, and all their sorrows will be gone.
Look straight ahead! With Jesus, it’s nothing but blue skiessss!
Blessings!
